Screening and Discussion: Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance

Join us for Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, the second film in our International Noir screening and discussion Series, on Thursday, February 25 at 3:30 in SIPA 100.

The first installment of director Park Chan-wook’s revenge trilogy displays the same moral confusion and compelling narrative as his subsequent and more widely familiar Oldboy. Among Tarantino’s favorite directors, Chan-wook brings to the screen violence and emotional pain that are far from gratuitous, but rather are integrated into this story where good intentions yield disastrous results. Dr. Andy Strycharski, Director of FIU’s Film Studies Program, will lead a Q & A after the film.

The International Noir series is graciously sponsored by FIU’s Center for the Humanities in an Urban Environment. This film is co-sponsored the FIU Asian Studies Program.
