Special Event: Landline Screening at Bill Cosford Cinema

Our friends over at the Miami Jewish Film Festival have invited us to an exclusive sneak-peek screening of Gillian Robespierre’s new comedy, Landline, which stars Jenny Slate (Parks and Recreation, SNL) in a touching and funny look at a dysfunctional family, set in 1995 New York.

The screening will take place on July 25th at 8 P.M at the University of Miami’s own Bill Cosford Cinema. The event is free, though you will have to RSVP if you are interested in coming. Seating is on a first come, first served basis and subject to capacity.

Following their 2014 sleeper Obvious Child, writer-director Gillian Robespierre, co-writer Elisabeth Holm, and star Jenny Slate reunite for this touching and funny look at dysfunctional New York families. It’s pre-cellphone Manhattan, 1995, and each member of the Jacobs family is on the cusp of some kind of existential crisis. When sisters Dana and Ali (Slate and Abby Quinn) suspect their father (John Turturro) may be cheating on their mother (Edie Falco), it sends them into a tailspin that reveals the cracks in the family facade. Landline is as much a portrait of a family in crisis as it is a love letter to a not-so-distant era.
