Miami Theaters Ring In Isle of Dogs with Wes Anderson Retrospectives

If you’ve made a trip to a local art house theater lately, you’ve likely stumbled upon a trailer for Wes Anderson’s upcoming and much anticipated film: Isle of Dogs. Anderson’s fans won’t have to wait much longer for the director’s second stop-motion feature as the film is set to be widely released on April 6th. But for those seeking to revisit the charming, witty,  and ever so symmetrical world of Wes, two of Miami’s premiere independent theaters have put together programs that are sure to quell those cravings.

Wes Anderson’s first venture into stop-motion animation came in his 2009 film, Fantastic Mr. Fox

Coral Gables Art Cinema will be running a program featuring five of Anderson’s most revered films. This “Best of Wes” series will run from the 30th of March through April 4th and feature multiple screenings of Moonrise Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Rushmore, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and The Royal Tenenbaums.

O Cinema Wynwood will run a more extensive program featuring all of the director’s feature films which will also run from the 30th of March through April 4th. On top of the aforementioned lineup, O Cinema’s Retrospective will also include screenings of Anderson’s directorial debut Bottle Rocket, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, and The Darjeeling Limited.

Everyone’s favorite symmetrical filmmaker: Wes Anderson.

Those who have somehow never experienced a Wes Anderson film should take advantage of this rare chance to watch the director’s works on the big screen. For over two decades, Anderson’s films have entertained and taken audiences for an emotional ride with his unique and unmistakable style: a feel-good mix of the most pleasing saturated color palettes, meticulous attention to detail, symmetrical cinematography, and a collection of offbeat, quirky characters. Make sure to mark your calendars and make the trip out to either Coral Gables or Wynwood and celebrate one of the greatest auteurs in all of cinematic history.

Both Coral Gables Art Cinema and O Cinema Wynwood are selling passes that include one entry to each of their respective program’s screenings, though individual tickets are also available.
